In section 11 we looked at the business case for continuous self-development, and in particular how to work with managers to help them understand its value in the workplace. In this section we want to consider how you can help individuals (ie employees) take responsibility for their own continuous self-learning and development.
In particular this means
- establishing a daily learning habit
- setting professional goals for their future
- developing and honing their modern learning skills
Clearly, the best way to promote modern learning practices is to role model them yourself, which means you can talk about what you do every day and what value you get out of your own learning practices. But in this section we will look at a number of specific initiatives that you might undertake to kickstart and promote a continuous learning culture within your organisation.
